It was an honor to see Sylvie Guillem dance in her final performance in the United States at New York City Center. I bought the last ticket and was lucky enough to sit in the front row! Watching her so closely was a wonderful learning experience because I could see the thought and intention in every movement that she made. At 50 years old, Sylvie has an incredible amount of intelligence in her body.

Watching her dance made my jaw drop to the floor and made me believe that anything is possible.

As she completed her final step and the curtain came down, the audience rose to their feet screaming “brava.” There were many curtain calls and tears as we celebrated a historic moment in dance history. Sylvie Guillem is a ballet legend and is, in my opinion, one of the greatest female dancers of our time.
