Meet Shannon Marie Rugani- San Francisco Ballet, Corps de Ballet

By on April 14, 2013

My name is Shannon Marie Rugani. I am a professional ballerina of 9 years for the San Francisco Ballet. My dancing career so far has been like a dream, yet filled with many years of sweat, determination, tears, and joy, but most importantly of all, never giving up.

I fell in LOVE with ballet when I was 6. I  KNEW I wanted to be a professional ballerina when I was 7. I BELIEVED that I actually could be a professional ballerina when I was 13. At the age of 14, I left my family and home in South Lake Tahoe, California for San Francisco with the goal of  becoming a professional ballerina. When I was 16 years old I was hired by the San Francisco Ballet Company. Most people’s careers start right after college, but for me, mine felt like it started when I was 6 years old.

This is the first of what I hope to be many blog articles. Just like in my dance career, I am looking forward to the challenge. Most importantly, I am looking forward to sharing my experiences and thoughts with you, my fellow dancers. I hope that we all continue to reach our fullest potential while contributing to the ART OF DANCE.

Yours truly,

Shannon Marie Rugani
