It can be so easy to get caught up in the crazy, stressful life of a dancer. Our mind is running 100 miles a minute and we are pushing our bodies to do some pretty unnatural things! So, what can help us as dancers rejuvenate out bodies and make them feel brand new again? Well, a very good solution to all of this is YOGA. Yes, it can be hard to find time sometimes to fit in a yoga class (because of our crazy schedules), but TRUST ME it is so worth it!
I’ve been practicing yoga for about 4 years now, and I can honestly say that it has had such a positive impact on my life. It has taught me to calm my mind, to learn to listen, and to be fully in-tune with my body. The strength and flexibility combination it takes to master yoga can be so beneficial to us as dancers! I’ve always been one to say how cross-training is so important and yoga is a perfect choice! We are teaching ourselves to use our bodies in a different way than what we’re used to, which can ultimately give you so much more strength, endurance, and control over your body. I’ve been able to translate the tools I’ve learned from yoga into my dancing, which is pretty awesome!
